About Me

Welcome Readers!!!

The thought of launching a blog has made me anxious, yet excited. First, my mindset is in a trance, wondering about the possibilities within my life. It settles on that “it is ok to indulge in living life with a little added simplicity, which can bring possible happiness”. I am delighted beyond belief to create cuisines that are health-conscious. As well as bringing a bit of island vibe flavor and balancing the entangled sensation of the taste buds. Being healthy does not have to mean bland and life-less food. My creations from drinks, appetizers, entrées, sides, and desserts are all made with love. Along the way, you will have a chance to discover with me organic products, gluten-free options, vegan products, and even superfoods that can be easily introduced into your diet. There will be the introduction of valuable online sites, cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and useful safety tips.

The fuel of my passion really comes from visiting my parent’s birthplace, St Catherine, Jamaica. There was a hidden excitement traveling along the deep red dirt roads, admiring the countryside graced with rich green foliage and mountainous scenery. Making my way with my mom to see my grandparents, cousins, aunt, uncles, and extended family. The scent of pimento wood chips and charcoal permeates the humid air while tantalizing my sense of smell. A pause in my step allows a moment to indulge in the sight of mouthwatering authentic island jerk chicken coming straight off a barrel grill. The mind slows off all thoughts at the very first bite. The deep smoky peppery flavors along with succulent tenderness awakened my tastebuds. Quenching my thirst with water straight from a green coconut gives realization of the island’s cultural flavors.

I loved growing up in a Caribbean-American household in New York City. The surrounding cultural melting pot gave access to an abundance of fresh products at your fingertips such as fresh thyme, aloe vera plants, cassava, scotch bonnet peppers, turmeric root, whole nutmeg, goat meat, and live poultry. Family and friends frequently seek instructions from me on how to prepare and incorporate fresh ingredients in a certain meal. Every now and again, I will end up in their kitchen doing the cooking which is usually fine with me😊. When fresh ingredients are readily available they are always my first choice to prepare a meal with.

Furthering my knowledge by attending Culinary Arts School made it feel like its own special pleasure in life.

“I am gracious to those many talented people over the years who have shared their expertise and wisdom about the culinary world.”

The culinary industry continuously gives me a different perspective and knowledge on the ever-life-changing effects that food has on the human body.

A step in the direction of a healthy change is always a great start, no matter your age. Our living environment can have an impact leaving a person settling for unhealthier food options. Busy schedules lead to fast food options becoming the norm in place of traditional home meals. No one is saying go all diet crazy. Enjoy the benefits of adding fresh, natural, and in-season ingredients to your daily eating habits. Check out farmers and local markets where you can acquire affordable unique goods. Who would not want to gain knowledge on a selection of foods that can be an energy booster, immune promoter, spice up the taste buds, or even your intimate life? There is joy felt when a smile radiates across a person’s face while devouring the food that you have created. Living the best healthy life of longevity is the most amazing feeling ever.
