If you are ever in the Lehigh Valley area around May, you have to check out the Mayfair Festival held at Cedar Crest College. They are so many vendors to choose from. Of course my favorite ones to stop at are offering delicious goodies for purchase. The great thing is you can get a sample of your choice before making a purchase. And the vendors are always eager to give you a breakdown of the product based on how it was made.
After volunteering for Mayfair Festival of 2024, I came across a table filled with salsas, sauces, and jams. Not the usual type of vendor I would see but it sure peaked my interest. So many to choose from, my eyes grew wide. I patiently waited as my mouth started to salivate. Just as I’ve thought I made my decision, the couple in front of me influenced my change. They were picking out there fourth jar and indecisive between one another. The indecisiveness clearly came from how good each of the samples they boasted about tasted. Yet, they definitely made clear they wanted to stay on a budget. And trust me I’m fully understanding to a strict budget on the topic of spending.
After enjoying over 5 samples between salsa and jams I finally decided. My three selections were down to All-Natural Banana Pineapple Mango Jam, Maple Bacon Jam, and All-Natural Medium 4 Pepper Salsa.

All-Natural Banana Pineapple Mango Jam

It had more flavor gear to pureed bananas. The jam was mildly sweet which was surprising since pineapple can heighten sweetness. This jam taste awesome on its own. Or put it on vanilla ice cream then crumble a slice of gingerbread on top. It is like you’re in a heaven of blended flavors.
Maple Bacon Jam

This jam has a sweet savory taste. The jam happens to be flavored with real bacon. There are tiny spare bits of bacon yet the flavor of it is not overpowering. The bacon lovers will not be disappointed. This is a jam that is great on toasted bread such as wheat, oatnut, and rye.
All-Natural Medium 4 Pepper Salsa

Now this is not your store-bought stuff as the difference will surely shine through. The flavors are bright, pronounced and refreshing. Plus there is no trying to figure out the ingredients as you can clearly see them cilantro, diced tomatoes, green chilies, habanero peppers, jalapeno peppers, lime juice, minced garlic, sea salt, serrano peppers, spices, and tomato paste.
It is more on the watery side than a thicker consistency. If you are looking for a super refreshing taste like it was made right now type of salsa, then this is it. Grab your nacho chips and get ready to dip and eat.
Whenever looking at the ingredient in the food you are choosing it should be simple. And you should be able to understand clearly all the ingredients instead of playing a guessing game. That’s the plus side of these selections. It actually inspired my tastebuds to create my own (Honey Bourbon Papaya Jam).
