My first visit here to the heart of Easton, Pennsylvania was this March 2025. The air was refreshingly light and crisp, yet brisk. A slow stroll allowed me to grace the area sightseeing The Crayola Experience building, few eateries, and local shops in the area. My particular destination was Easton Farmer Market (EFM), a place to go if you want to enjoy the local produce and artisanal food. They exuberate a sense of community through this market style. It is a family-friendly and dog-friendly environment. So, take a walk with the kids for a little sightseeing so they learn about local farmers and vendors in the area.
Founding of EFM
Easton Farmers’ Market (EFM) was established in 1752, same year as the City’s founding. It is a producer-only, open market that sells all meat and dairy free of antibiotic and hormones. There dedicated to providing food safety, environmental transparency, and trusted sources.
Dive Deeper into EFM
The farms which products come from go through a full on-site inspection. Easton Farmers Market have prepared ready-to-eat food vendors which source their ingredients from local farms many times. For the most part all products offered at the EFM are from local vendors. They are also naturally/ organically grown and produced.
It have come across an outside market that took up a few blocks. This market is about a two-block radius with up to approximately 20 vendors. The vendors offer their local, organic, and/or naturally cultivated foods. There is a variety in alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages, dairy products, fresh produce, pastured meat, baked goods, grains, and prepared foods.
Get The Most For Your Buck
A healthy initiative is utilizing your Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) to make purchases at a farmers market. A program utilized by the farmers market allows for a match with Food Bucks up to $10 for an individual’s purchase using EBT. There is a stand that you can’t miss regarding this information as well to assist you with questions.
Something For Dog Lovers
The market is absolutely dog friendly. I’ve seen a few people at the market with their leashed dogs. Of course all the animals seem docile to a point. There were definitely a couple of vendors selling products such as biscuits. Catering to the taste buds of the furry companion. You figure you’re staying healthy, why not do the same for your extended family furry?
My Treats
Now I can’t pass up a good farmers market indulgence. There is the value I see as a chef, in time taken by the individual to create something mouthwatering. The pride viewed in a person’s face when you ask them to explain their growing process. Or asking for back stories to their start is admirable. And let’s not forget, you get the chance to taste test what you have your eye set on buying.
For me, my hands where filled upon my departure with a few Easton Farmers Market goodies. I purchased Dragonfly Hill Farm and Kitchen LLC’s Black Garlic Butter, net wt. 4 oz for $12. A gluten free and soy-free product with ingredients, organic ferment gourmet hard-neck garlic, salted butter (Allergen: milk). No preservatives unpasteurized Pure Sweet Apple Cider and Apple Butter from vendor Scholl Orchards. Then there is Potatoes, Onion, and Chives Pierogi along with Buffalo Chicken and Bleu Cheese Ravioli from vendor Oley Ravioli. Both products were for $12 together. From another vendor I purchased beautiful purple-green microgreen for $6. If you live in a certain area you will know microgreens are not the easiest to find in person.
Forms of Payment
Cash is widely generally accepted. There is other options available such as EBT, credit card and debit card payment using transactional swipe machines. If you are looking for a receipt it may be a bit of a challenge. An itemized food receipt is good for many reasons. It could be for tax purposes, recipe breakdown cost, or staying on your exploration food budget. I was happy to get an itemized receipt when providing cash from vendors such as Scholl Orchards. As I ask other vendors it did not seem as if it was a common thing asked for. A good idea if you really need to keep track is to take a receipt book or mini notebook with more than one pen.
