Jamaican Sorrel Drink
I was not the biggest fan and swore off sorrel as a pre-teen due to its sour, bitter taste. That was after drinking a store-bought version, acquired with my meal from a Jamaican restaurant in Flatbush, New York. Years later, I tried a friend’s version following some extensive persuasion. It was clear that the flavor profile can be significantly influenced by particular spices. Some sorrel drinks will be made with less sugar or even no sugar, creating a tartness, such as the store-bought version. Her homemade Jamaican sorrel drink far outshines the store-bought option. It absolutely inspired me to create my own version.
