One of the things New Jersey does better than anyone else in my opinion is diners. At The Point Diner in Point Pleasant, it captures the classic Jersey spirit this August. This diner is less than a 10-minute drive or 30-minute walk from Jenkinson’s Boardwalk an amusement park on the New Jersey shore.

Atmosphere
The diner has a welcoming vibe with a rustic yet modern look. Cozy bright booths, a fine dining silverware tabletop/ countertop setup, and plenty of eye-catching fixtures shining soft light. They bring breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, with an added style. There is music that flows in the background. Not loud with a comfortable level to hear yourself speak and even enjoy a comfortable conversation. Establishment is suitable for couples and family-friendly. It’s the kind of place that feels like home whether you’re a local regular or just passing through.
The parking lot has ample space for various sized vehicles. In front of the establishment there are several benches to take a seat on and rest your legs. There is a designated outdoor smokers receptacle so you can take a quick smoke break.
Food and Drinks
The menu is large but not overwhelming. The breakfast-brunch-lunch menu is separate from the dinner menu with legible font (A plus for those who need reading glasses).
The real star of any diner is the food, At The Point Diner doesn’t disappoint. Portions are generous, and the flavors deliver comfort food.
Short thin glasses served with fresh clean tasting water poured out of a large, chilled glass bottle. It sure enough to quench your thirst before the meal but not fill you up.

The appetizer plating of the pickles and coleslaw is cute. A small portion to get the taste buds awakened as this coleslaw was slightly tangy, mildly tart as you enjoy the subtle flavor which keeps you wanting to take another bite. It was the right balance neither dry nor drench in too much mayonnaise.

A Classic Burger was my choice from the Brunching At The Point section on menu. An 8-ounce black angus beef burger, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and homemade steak sauce.
The burger was pretty juicy and not greasy. A burger with real meat taste and not the frozen stuff. There was the option to choose one of four sides… my side was slender crisp sweet potato fries. It was different to see my sweet potato fries inside a paper lined gold adorned mini fry basket.

I was able to get a taste of the chicken soup with small chunks of real chicken, veggies, and al dente bow tie noodles. A quick bite turned into me forgetting to return the small bowl. The soup could have been a bit warmer yet didn’t lack flavor. The crunchy crispy onion ring coating held its shape even after extracting the actual onion from the inside.
I appreciated the cute, branded mason jar with fresh clean tasting water and added sliced lemon. Something not expected when requesting more water in the middle of a meal.
Staff & Service
Greeted and quickly seated on entering. The staff are neatly put together, friendly and informative. My waiter was surely quick on his feet with no coffee cup staying empty for long. He eagerly provided the dinner menu and upcoming specials. He even went into informing about dessert after finishing the meal without rushing.
Value
You will take every bit even down to the last two bites literally. A satisfying meal without breaking the bank, the food prices are fair. At the Point Diner approximate per person cost, $14 to $30 for breakfast/brunch meal. This coming from a born and raised New Yorker who knows all about high prices. There is no forced gratuity charge on your bill. The upside is you get the choice to pay the provided bill amount either by card or cash. The amount total differs when paying card (more) and cash (less) as it is shown on receipt. Most places price is set when paying by either option.
